Kavian Shahi, MD, PhD
Medical Director, Neurosurgery

Dr. Shahi, the first MD-PhD graduate of the University of Southern California Medical School, is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City. His areas of special interest include cerebrovascular disease, neuro oncology, and cervical spine disease.

Mercy neurosurgeons are supported by specialized nursing and clinical support staff, and the response capabilities of a nationally accredited Level II Trauma Center.

Alan Shatzel, DO
Medical Director, Neurology

Dr. Shatzel is a Neurology and Sleep specialist with board certifications in neurophysiology and sleep medicine. He completed an internship at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, followed by a fellowship at UC Davis Medical Center.

George Luh, MD
Medical Director, Interventional Neuroradiology

A 1992 graduate of the Loma Linda University School of Medicine, Dr. Luh completed his Radiology residency at the same university medical center in 1997. Later that year, he began a Neuroradiology fellowship with the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Luh completed his fellowship in 1999 and currently holds board certifications in Diagnostic Radiology as well as Neuroradiology.
